How it all started...
South Side Missionary Baptist Church of Star City, Arkansas was organized May 17, 1942, as a result of the mission work of Elders Stacy Owen and A.J. Wall. There were 11 charter members meeting that day in the community hut on the south side of town, On July 5, 1942, the church called Rev. Stacy Owen as her first pastor. On May 1, 1943, the church began meeting in their first building, which was built by members and friends on land donated by J.H. Gober. In 1953, a new sanctuary was added to the building, and the old space was then used for classrooms. ten years later, plans were drawn up for a parsonage, which was completed in 1964. The current sanctuary was built in 1969. In 1986, a fellowship hall was added (which is currently the teen building). In 2001, the life center/gymnasium was added. Remodeling on the sanctuary began in 2010 and in 2012, the sanctuary and new annex were completed.
